Jul 27 at 11:28 comment added Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'm glad you found the issue. You should put that as an answer so this question can be answered.
Jul 27 at 6:27 comment added Savage I spoke to a gearbox mechanic who thought it was a bearing on the sixth gear. I have subsequently had the gearbox serviced by a different company and the sound is gone.
Feb 13 at 19:07 comment added Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 i would agree with you about it only being 6th gear which is noisy and not think it being a gear oil issue.
Feb 13 at 17:29 comment added Savage Thanks, I'm also reading up that gears can become noisy when an oil change is due, but in my mind that doesn't explain why only 6th gear is out.
Feb 13 at 12:59 comment added Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I don't know for sure, but would assume a bearing is probably going out in your transmission. The bearing would have to be on the carrier for 6th gear. I'm not at all aware of the makeup of how your transmission is put together, so this is just a stab in the dark. You'll probably want to have a transmission shop take a look at it.
