Apr 25, 2016 at 8:32 comment added RedSonja @Pete the weirdest thing I ate in USA (and I will try anything) was a "fried pickle". Which was a dill pickle, battered and deep fried. So a casing of batter filled with sour hot water.
Apr 22, 2016 at 13:31 comment added corsiKa Tested this last night with four test subjects, ages 15, 14 8 and 7. Three females, one male. None of the subjects were afraid of the cucumber. One of them tried to gently nibble on the cucumber. Conclusion: cucumber not recommended for feline control.
Apr 20, 2016 at 15:14 comment added Linkyu @JPhi1618 ...that might explain a few things, but I can assure you it was a cat. My theory is that it picked up this kind of behaviour because it was raised with watchdogs, essentially. He was very protective of the kids. That or he was just a large, black mongoose all along.
Apr 20, 2016 at 14:40 comment added JPhi1618 @Linkyu, I'm pretty sure you had a mongoose and not a cat. That's pretty crazy.
Apr 20, 2016 at 14:36 comment added Linkyu My cat used to go and kill any and all snakes on sight, usually by beheading them (and then of course proceed to play with the body). So be mindful that some cats might try to just destroy the toy.
Apr 19, 2016 at 15:36 comment added DucatiKiller @Pete We have everything here. Even the cucumbers you didn't even know we had! lol :-)
Apr 19, 2016 at 15:34 comment added PeteCon @DucatiKiller I am a brit! I came to the US only to find that delicacy called an 'English Cucumber', because they don't exist in the UK. I found out that it's the same as a Cucumber; 99% water, 1% something disgusting.. :p
Apr 19, 2016 at 14:14 comment added JPhi1618 @Tristan, be sure and get a very realistic rubber snake. Your cat is just smarter than most.
Apr 19, 2016 at 14:07 comment added Tristan My cats don't care one bit about cucumbers. This might not be wholly effective.
Apr 19, 2016 at 13:25 comment added JPhi1618 @RedSonja, I think the cats would have time to inspect and get used to the snake on the ground much like cats that were not surprised by the cucumbers. As stated, I think the snake on the car works so well because they have a split second to decide if they trust the snake or not and snakes just can't be trusted.
Apr 19, 2016 at 13:22 comment added RedSonja I can't wait to get home and try this out. Have to go to the toy shop first and buy a snake. Would a rubber snake keep the cats off my flowerbeds too?
Apr 19, 2016 at 9:20 comment added JRE The only reason for cucumbers to exist is to be made into pickles.
Apr 19, 2016 at 8:30 comment added Rory Alsop I like butter sandwiches much more than I like cucumber sandwiches...just sayin'
Apr 19, 2016 at 5:49 comment added DucatiKiller @Pete Depends on if your a Brit. What's a cucumber sandwich without cucumbers? It's a butter sandwich. That's what it is. No one likes butter sandwiches. No one.
Apr 19, 2016 at 1:17 comment added PeteCon I'm with the cats. There's no logical requirement in the world for a Cucumber to exist...
Apr 19, 2016 at 0:53 comment added JPhi1618 Sure, there are several videos and vines. Here's a compilation: youtu.be/_BRp7ezUqbI
Apr 19, 2016 at 0:51 comment added Esoteric Screen Name Can you source that video (presumably the picture is a screencap from it)? I'd love to watch it.
Apr 19, 2016 at 0:41 comment added JPhi1618 My dad does use the snake trick on his car. They have a cat issue in the neighborhood and he doesn't see feet prints unless he forgets the snake.
Apr 19, 2016 at 0:37 comment added zoplonix what research backs up your claim? my understanding was that you are adding something to their environment that they don't remember being there before eating and thus they are startled when they notice it (notice how scared the black cat is). the cucumber is just viral lubricant
Apr 18, 2016 at 21:58 comment added cdunn You can almost see the thought bubble on the black cat: Dude, it's a cucumber, relax
