Of all my years of cleaning glass, nothing beats newspaper with a drop or two of dish washing liquid in half mug of water. Something about newspaper, but it just works.

Injectors or spark plug leads (if not using coil packs). When was the last time u changed your plugs? Also check for tears in vacuum hoses. Though usually vacuum leaks symptoms wouldn't disappear.
