This question already has an answer here:

I filled my oil to full mark in dipstick on Sunday. It is a 98 Honda CRV. Tonight I discovered that a friend of my granddaughter has filled it to double that amount, its the same distance up my dipstick as it is under it. How much damage can this do to my car? She wants to drive it to Toora tomorrow to work but I am really concerned, can anyone tell me how much damage this would do to my car?

  • Welcome to Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair! Sorry I needed to close this question, as it's been asked multiple different ways before. As to directly answer your question, you need to remove the excess oil before you drive it. Either drain it or suck it out, but get it down to regular levels, because it will cause damage otherwise. – Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Aug 28 at 16:07
