2010 Dodge Journey r/t 3.5 L

Why does my speedometer drop and my oil warning light come on with the dinging?

  • The first step is to check your oil level. The oil light indicates a loss in oil pressure, which would usually be caused by low oil. When the oil is low, the level of available oil in the oil pan can be drawn down at high RPM's, and the pickup tube will be pulling air instead of oil, leading to a temporary loss of oil pressure. Oil is critical to the proper functioning and longevity of your engine, so don't drive the vehicle until you ensure the oil is filled correctly. – the_storyteller May 20 '19 at 18:45
