the problem: I was driving on the freeway and i noticed loss a power when accelerating and when i got off the freeway the ow oil pressure light came on and it wanted to stall. as soon as i got to my destination it stalled and wouldn't start back up. and i needed to get home. i checked the dip stick and there was a little oil on the stick so i put 1qt of oil and it started with a knocking noise in the engine i made it to a gas station and it stalled and it wouldn't turn on i had to get it towed to my house

things i did: i only heard a click in the starter and i took it out and got it tested and they said it was bad so i got a new starter and put that on there and there was still a click. i also went and got a new battery and changed the starting relay. and i noticed when i hold the key to the crank position the starter starts smoking. whats going on with my car?

  • Welcome to Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair! Sounds like you've seized your engine. The smoke from the starter means it's trying to work, but can't move, so the juice going through it is creating a large amount of heat, and thus the smoke. I'd check and see if you can turn the engine over by hand (using a socket on the crankshaft bolt) – Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Mar 4 at 2:43
