I own a kia and noticed this vent as part of the dash around the climate control. I looked in the user manual but there is no labels attached to it.

Does anyone know what it's for? image of vent

Thanks

  • I would bet it's to tell the temperature, but who knows. – Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Aug 6 '16 at 19:51

  • @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2: If it were a temperature sensor, shouldn't there be a second one on the right , since the car has separate temperature controls for left and right? (And would it make sense to have them almost in the middle?) – sweber Aug 6 '16 at 20:04
  • @Ben ... could be ... most I've seen are above, though, so it will pick up the driver's voice better (more direct shot). I really don't know ... I bet it would be in the owner's manual, though ... ;-) – Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Aug 6 '16 at 20:05

I looked it up as i have similar in my car it holds the interior temp sensor as @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 suggested. give the make and model pull the trim and check the wire colors to confirm. if someone has a wiring diagram. – Ben Aug 6 '16 at 20:14

It's an interior temperature sensor for cars with automatic A/C.

This is on my car, a Mitsubishi Lancer it's not in the same location but it serves the same purpose.
