Apr 2, 2020 at 7:08 comment added GdD The world is a big place and there's a lot going on @DavidZ , this entirely depends on it being legal. Where I am "unnecessary" travel is "discouraged" but there's nothing saying I can't drive to keep my car running.
Apr 2, 2020 at 2:39 comment added David Z @GdD (5 comments up): You make a good point, but in many areas, there is some kind of partial quarantine order in effect which makes it illegal to drive your car just to keep it in shape. Of course you can always claim you're going to the grocery store (or, y'know, actually go to the grocery store :p).
Apr 1, 2020 at 20:47 comment added Michael well this kind of assumes that you have fuel stabilizer handy - my vehicle wants me to perform standard maintenance which i am hesitant to do (somebody else in my car) but I also don't want to drive it until that maintenance is performed.
Apr 1, 2020 at 17:01 comment added VSO Good point...I guess I should have actually read the question. And yea, my comment is overkill and should be ignored for anything but months of storage.
Apr 1, 2020 at 16:24 comment added GdD The question implies that the car is going to be needed occasionally, not stored @VSO.
Apr 1, 2020 at 12:55 comment added VSO Tires get flat spots. Some people who let their cars sit and care put them up on jackstands, take the wheels off, and put the wheels down flat or hang them somewhere.
Apr 1, 2020 at 11:17 comment added GdD I didn't add this to my answer because it wasn't really on topic, but I think that driving your car to keep it in shape is a responsible act. You won't expose anyone or be exposed yourself by driving in your car, but if you have to call roadside assistance there's a chance or corona transmission.
Apr 1, 2020 at 11:13 comment added GdD That's a good point @WeatherVane.
Apr 1, 2020 at 11:08 comment added Weather Vane I would also run the air conditioning for a few minutes for the same reason.
