comment 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 overheating
Did you replace water pump, do a hot flush, did you replace the radiator cap? Is the system full of coolant? Is the coolant 50/50 or all antifreeze?

comment What causes an engine to burn oil?
+1 just rebuilt the head on an 05 SRT4 because it was burning oil. The valve guides had wear, but the valve seals were still perfect.

comment Automatic: revs dropping then stalling when stopped at lights
@GeoffM rereading your complaint, it does sound like a crank sensor. I've only experienced issues with crank sensors under throttle, but I'll keep your experience in mind.

comment Washing Engine Bay / Underside From Oil / Dirt
That's going to be tough for the engine bay. It's very easy to break old vacuum lines with a little pressure and those are a nightmare to diagnose and fix. Here is a good video to watch youtube.com/watch?v=t4SWGJcZ5u0 You can see the pressure varies. If you can get a sprayer with a variable handle, that might be best. Flow rates and PSI will vary depending on what you're trying to do. Cleaning oil might be better done with a steam cleaner.

comment Car declared a total loss, what do I do?
They will call it a total loss when the cost to repair exceeds the value of the car. You will only get the blue book value for your car and won't be able to argue for more. You can however, keep the car and the cash and find a cheap place to repair it, get a slavage title and get back on the road.

@GeoffM Glad to hear it was repaired under warranty. Kia parts can get expensive.

comment Removing oil stains from the driveway?
Had a guy going door to door with a spray bottle that would remove oil stains from cement. It worked great, but I didn't catch the name. Point is, there are products out there. Pour-N-Restore is one of them.

comment RPM problem (car is jerking)
It sounds like it's at idle due to the RPM range and it also sounds like the IAC valve which I'd recommend replacing first. What happens when you turn the AC on? Better or worse?

comment Assembly lube or engine oil when reassembling cylinder heads
+1 for assembly lube flushing. It can clog the oiling holes in the hydraulic lifters and other tiny oil feed holes. I just rebuilt the head on an 05 SRT4 and I only used lube on the bearing caps and a tiny bit on the cam lobes. The rest was oil.
