Jun 1	comment	What problems to look for when buying used motorcycle As @mikes says, a huge behemoth of a bike like a Goldwing is a risk as a first bike. Almost everyone drops their first bike at least once and with all of that weight and plastic a drop is even more likely and expensive to fix. I would strongly recommend something a little smaller/lighter to get used to handling a bike before going for a heavyweight. Even if you only keep it for a few months, you could learn a lot.

Given the choice between a 5 year old fluke off eBay and a new cheap unbranded DMM with the same features, I would take the fluke every time. They stay in calibration for decades and can take some serious abuse. Few other DMMs will survive being thrown around a workshop as well as your average fluke.

As I said With many vehicles, it is the filler cap itself which locks the petrol tank, as an example, see the illustration in this article: green.autoblog.com/2011/03/27/… Try searching for "locking fuel cap" in a google images search and you will find loads of them.

Jul 27	comment	Will higher octane fuel improve gas mileage? @Bob Yup, that's what I do too. Always filling up to a full fuel tank means that the amount of fuel that that you fill up with is also the amount of fuel you've used since the last fill up and thus last trip reset - hence my comment about making it easy to calculate mpg. Normally though I don't bother with the calculation, I just know that my vehicle should get about 200 miles to the tank.

I don't think that particular brand is available in the UK, which is why my question was asking about flushing oil vs additives rather than about specific brands of each. Also, any product that is simultaneously promoted as a fuel additive, engine oil additive and brake fluid additive sounds a little like snake oil to me. *8')
