@dmc I just use a pry bar you can twist them a little, sometimes that help. Never had to do anything else. Pry between the strut and the nut so you don't risk damaging the body work.

I realize the question could have be worded better, and I have cleaned it up some. Not sure it was worth 3 downvotes without comment on why. When new users are guided on what the community expects it makes the site better for everyone. Also it was flagged as being off topic, and while it might be able to be posted on Home Improvement this question is on topic here. Please see the help center"...even in applications other than automotive so long as the question is related to engine or engine accessories."

comment What is the normal battery draw for a 2009 Honda Fit?
I think the OP is talking about when the vehicle is off, and nothing being used. I could be wrong but when most people talk about battery draw they are talking about a parasitic load. With the exception of short term overloads if the electrical system is working correctly on an automobile you don't draw any power from the battery when the engine is running.

comment 91 GMC accelerating problems
Can you feel it change gears? If so what gear fails? Using moderate throttle from a stop feel for the transmission shift. You should feel it shift and the RPM drop with each shift. Do that and tell me which gear it stops pulling in.

@Paulster2 I added the 4L80e (Electronic version of TH-400 +overdrive) tag, based on the OP stating that the transmission shop replaced solinoids and GM didn't (to my knowledge) put a 4L60e (electronic version of 700R4) in 3500 with dual rear wheels

Not sure why your answers was down-voted, seems like it's helpful to me. While Dobey's answer could answer every question on the site but wouldn't be very helpful

comment Why would a water pump be run off of the timing belt?
@WoodrowBarlow basically those are done at the same time, if the water pump is being replaced you replace the belt, and vice versa. It's always cheaper when you factor paying labor at a shop. When it's your own labor it's just your time. But if the belt breaks it's at a minimum a huge inconvenience and you still have to do the labor again and at worse major engine damage. I have done only belts many times at the customers request, only to have the water pump start leaking soon after on many of them. I wouldn't even consider doing a pump without the belt, it's just too much risk otherwise.

comment Alternator vs Battery
@Marin No, it's not the best way to charge the battery with the alternator at all. You should put it on a battery charger at the lowest rate practical. The Alternator is going to try and fast charge the battery which may not work well depending on the condition of the battery.

comment Why is car A/C typically less reliable than fridges/freezers?
@jnovacho I added a link to Ton in my answer, and Marc Stober has a great link as well. As for the highway speeds, the air going across the condenser removes heat and converts the gaseous refrigerant back to a liquid (it condenses the gas) it's effectiveness depends on the size of the condenser and the airflow across it. They system has to be designed to work at idle with less airflow all the way up to highway speeds.

@MarcStober to some extent yes, with a constant and predictable power input the compressor can be designed to turn at the exact RPM required for maximum efficiency
