comment Jump starting a dead battery: Connect black wire to negative pole of battery or grounded metal?
I'm saying that there might be some resistance due to corrosion between the negative pole on the battery and the various chassis grounds.

comment Should motorcyle exhaust headers ever glow red hot
If they're that bad, I'd be tempted to skip the carb cleaner and give them an ultrasonic bath. There are places that do carb refurbishment that'd be able to offer this service, or if you're in the US Harbor Freight has some fairly cheap ultrasonic cleaners. That said, I do prefer the carb cleaner in a spray can generally but I think you'll need to soak those carbs if they're as bad as you described.

If the engine is properly warmed up, you should have a lot more heat than slightly above the outside temperature. To me this almost sounds like you're not getting enough coolant through the heater, which would suggest that you're either low on coolant or don't have enough coolant circulation (could be water pump or blockages).

Just to confirm, you do get heat out of the heater ducts if you have the heater on full with the fan at max?

a/c on high will be detrimental to engine cooling, but if you turn off the a/c and run the heater at full blast you should definitely see the engine cooling down.

I assume that's the expansion tank, did you check at the (radiator) filler neck as well? If you have a leak when the engine is cold, the coolant level in the engine can fall far enough so it can't draw in more fluid from the header tank.

Have you checked that it's got enough coolant in both the radiator and the expansion tank when the engine is cold?

comment post suspension work alignment, is it absolutely necessary?
The problem is that once you got grit or dirt in the grease, you'll probably have some odd wear on the balljoint if you didn't catch it immediately, so it might be prudent to just swap out the whole balljoint anyway.

comment Which engine part is this?
@Andre, if the reservoir was completely dry you need to find out where it's leaking. Power steering fluid normally doesn't just disappear into thin air.
