What does this device on a 1985 Mercury Lynx/Ford Export Diesel do? Maybe a shot from the under-side, or front of the part might help? |

when parked on uphill, it's difficult to engage any other gears on my automatic chevy 2004 impala. Another way to look at it is apply the parking brake before releasing the regular brakes. |

What problems may occur if clutch is not used? I'm pretty sure the OP meant "motorcycle" when he was referring to "bikes". Also, the last time I rode my bike (admittedly, it's been awhile) I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to change gears without pedaling the bike. You need to keep pedaling so that the chain can move and be guided onto the new gear. At least, that's how it is on your typical mountain bike. |

Coil Pack Location @robertlewis2001 - I suggest posting that as a separate question. Also, get a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle. |

Coil Pack Location @Larry - Ah, I just noticed the stamp on the first pic. You're right. However, I imagine coil pack placement will likely be the same across most model years. I believe a friend of mine has a LeSabre of the vintage in question. Maybe I'll take a look under his hood if I get the chance soon. |

Am I getting reamed? Looking for some automotive guidance. This question seems fairly subjective and localized. What one considers a reasonable price for quality service may seem too expensive for another, and labor costs can vary between different regional markets. |

How to identify parts needed for a repair? This question seems a bit vague as it is. I think I understand what you're trying to get at, but could you edit it to be more clear and specific? |

Reviving a vehicle that has been idle for a long time. I think what I'm trying to get at is: Will SeaFoam and new gas, added pre-emptively, help prevent additional gum from the old gas from building up on the parts? On the other hand, could the SeaFoam make the "first start" more difficult on the engine? |

The headlights dim to almost off when I turn off the engine. How do I test the battery? Also possibly relevant: mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/372/… |
