Is engine braking harmful? Guys, I greatly appreciate your discussion, and it is very informative and helpful. I do want to point out that I had in mind the assumption that while the tach is reading much higher that "normal driving", we're far quite from the red line. Say, red is around 6500, and we were at about 5000, the whole "ordeal" lasting around 30 seconds. |

Does the tachometer provide any indication of fuel usage? Great in-depth answer. "In the same gear and at the same speed your tachometer will always be at the same RPMs" sums up my error in understanding. |
