comment “Irreparable” tire damage incurred due to road pothole
These days, "in the tread" really means in the center 50% of tread. Most places won't even do small hole repairs on the outer tread blocks anymore (vs. 15 years ago when shops would plug sidewalls! I've had a couple of those sidewall plugs, no problems ever, but in today's society it's safer for the tire shops to take a lot more of your money and sell you a whole new tire).

Common on car and home windows in areas that see temperatures below 0F for sustained periods of time.

comment Can I use an OBD2 Scan Tool on older GM vehicle?
Define "older" vehicle please. The conversion to OBD-2 was required in 1996. Prior to that, it may or may not work (I own a '95 car with an OBD-2 connector that most functions work on, but not all).

comment Should I throw away my wheels after they bumped in the sidewalks?
Wow. That had to have been quite a ride! I've smoked a couple curbs in my day with lower profile tires and have yet to damage a rim. I can't imagine how violent an impact you had!

comment Car won't start or stay running after a jump
Not true. It often takes 5-10 minutes of revving the donor car into the best power producing RPM range before the car with the dead battery will start.

comment 2004 Ford Escape battery light comes on intermittently - what likely cause(s) are there?
My car goes down to 12.6v on a hot day at low idle (which is where flooded lead acid batteries normally float). On alternator failure the load pulls it down to 12.1-12.3 or so and the light does come on.

comment Keeping an old car alive?
1991/2 Toyota MR2 Turbo caliper. I've now got a similar situation with my 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (with factory rear LSD). I had a rear wheel bearing go bad, which is not normally too tricky. However, it's been on a lift for nearly 3 months while we're trying to source usable axle cups (everything was so badly rusted that the originals are no longer usable).
