Software Developer @ jp2code.net

Long ago, I left home and joined the United States Marine Corps where I was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of Basic Metal Worker (MOS 1316). I loved building things as a welder, but could not see myself doing this until I reached age 65.

After my Honorable Discharge in the early 1990s, I used my G.I. Bill to go to school and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics four years later.

Using a love of computers since I played on a Commodore 64 at 10 years old and two (2) C++ electives that I had taken in school, I began working in the computer programming field.

The recession following ENRON in 2001 left me working at a remedial job for a little over two years while I brushed up on my skills at a local community college in SQL and first learned what the new .NET Framework was all about.

I have had the pleasure of working as a Software Developer since 2003.

For a short while, I pulled in a little extra income by running a moonlighting business under the name Joe's Welding. Dangerous working conditions and non-paying customers prompted me to sell my mobile welding equipment about the time my son was born.

Today, I am exclusively a Software Developer. My language of choice is C#, and I enjoy working with databases.

If you care to find me anywhere else, just do a search on my screen name: jp2code

LOL - I had jack stands under the frame. My skills with The Force aren't that good. I wasn't sure if calipers were supposed to rattle like that. I replaced them and the rotors a year or so ago, so I probably did something wrong. I'll take it in to have it corrected. Thanks!

@TDHofstetter - I must have showed that video to countless shops. No one wanted to touch it, so I had to (see answer below).

I'm all dressed up pretty for work right now, so I can't go crawling under the truck at the moment. I'll check on this when I get back home, though! Thanks.

It has CV joints. If one of those were loose, the front end would fall off though. Right?

Independent. A slinger? Do you have a link? (I'd rather not have this go to Chat)

I've got 2 or 3, but they'll only record about 15 seconds of video. That MP3 started live as a 20-minute recording, and I edited out the useless parts. I've sent the video link to a few local shops that have email accounts. That way, when I bring it in, they'll at least know what noise to listen for.

Yeah. There just isn't anywhere to mount a camera. The MP3 recorder is tiny and can mount anywhere. The speakers don't even have to be pointed at the source.

One guy on YouTube has pointed out the wheel bearings - which I changed out when I put new rotors on the front.

comment Sea Foam vs Sta-bil
I have heard of Sta-Bil clogging injectors, but not Sea Foam. On the other hand, I have not heard about Sea Foam extending the shelf life of fuel.

Without reading the wiki, is it vacuum and engine speed?

comment What is the right way to attach the Micarb to the engine head of my Enfield Bullet 500?
Can you fabricate up a little piece of steel to fit across your new air filter (inside the cone)? That would give you a stock-like apparatus to drill a hole in, allowing the manifold bolt to still hold your new air filter on.

Is losing 1-qt per 500-1000 miles common in rotary engines?

I'll look into it and ask around.

We've got a 4x4 place in town that will get me aftermarket Rancho Suspension, but they want over twice the cost of the original replacement springs. I have not found any other type of business around here that works on springs. Zip 75601.

I wound up adding some helper springs, but I'd still like to find some old original stuff. I'd rather not spend $600 for new ones on this 20-year old truck if I don't need to.

comment 1 Piece versus 2 Piece Drive Shaft
That's kind of what I'm thinking, too, Gabriel. I found several questions about it on various forums. All I found get distracted into why the person is asking the question, then they spend their energy trying to solve the problem instead of answering the question.

comment Oil burning smell and slow oil leak
Could be because some of the old oil is out in the open or smeared over the engine when it was drained. On the coolant, be sure to keep an eye on the overflow reservoir. It is designed to slowly go down while keeping your radiator full.
