What essential preparations should I take before winter driving? A proper oil for the temperature is key, really. If you're running too thick of an oil you're going to suffer hard starts and increased wear. |

Is it possible to lock wheels when ABS is working? Do any modern cars actually let you disable ABS? |

Why are my wires melting together? Sounds like quite the short circuit. Did a bunch of fuses blow at once, or did one blow and then more follow later? |

Is it normal for the oil to be dark in color right after an “oil change” in a 10-year old diesel car? In gas circumstances this is true, but not for diesels. |

Why does my 2005 Volvo S60 make a clicking sound when accelerating from a stop? Does it click a lot when you're maneuvering around parking lots? |

Is it worth repairing/replacing a noisy timing belt tensioner on a MkV VW Golf? Which motor does the car have? |

Does the tachometer provide any indication of fuel usage? I don't think mine reports accurately. I'm not sure if it's the ScanGauge's fault or my car's computer. It's MPG claims are wildly optimistic, so my actual GPH usage is higher (maybe 0.25 or so) and the extra digit is being truncated and left out of the equation. Still useful though. |

Should only the left “Rear Fog Light” actually light up in a pair? Your friend's Porsche may be like that because, I believe, in Germany you only have 1 rear fog light so that it stands out against brake lights. |

Best way to approach a tire with a bubble in the sidewall Yeah, I got it replaced, along with the tire on the other side. I asked the tire guy about warranty replacement and he said the exact opposite, that if the tire has been good for awhile and suddenly bubbles then it's likely a pothole or damage, while if a tire came from the factory bubbled or bubbled soon after it'd likely be a manufacturing defect. |

Is it okay to replace one tire (of four matched tires) with a completely different model of tire? I'm in a similar situation and I simply don't have the money to buy 3 new tires. I wonder if it's better to put the new tires on the drives or would it matter? |
