Front, driver-side wheel sounds like it's skidding when braking Let me rephrase: have you checked your tire pressures with a gauge? Do they match the recommended pressures for your car? There's a plate inside the drivers side door (in the US) that lists the correct pressures. They're also found in the owner's manual. |

low speed vibration, not in the steering Is the vibration independent of the speed of the car? Is the vibration tied to the rpms of the engine? |

My battery was so dead that my battery charger wouldn't charge it at all Hi Stephen - welcome to the site. Your situation is almost identical to another on the site that has useful answers and a dead battery recovery procedure. I'm going to mark your question as a duplicate of that one in order to direct you that way. |

Improving fuel economy in high-milage automatic transmission car This question is a bit vague as written: you've left yourself open to the standard answer of "it's the driver, not the vehicle." Here are some suggested additions: What specific vehicle are you talking about? What are some of the symptoms that indicate that there is a mechanical problem? Are you already driving in a fuel conserving manner? |

Windshield wiper only making contact on the ends of the blade Pictures would help - Rory suggested the spring at the base of the wiper arm (near where the whole assembly pivots to wipe the windscreen). A picture of the wiper itself might help as well - maybe something is bent. |

Windshield wiper only making contact on the ends of the blade Yes, this sounds like there isn't enough tension in the arm. |

Overheating & coolant loss in 1998 Subaru Outback Amended my answer to recommend a coolant flush as the next step: it still sounds like "stop leak" is clogging your flow. |

do all quattros have shafts connecting front and rear axles You can decode your VIN by referring to the codes in the owners manual. You can also use some web services like the following: audivindecoder.com/vins/waudk78t59a020347 |

do all quattros have shafts connecting front and rear axles @Mauro, actually if you have the VIN and the owner's manual, you can usually decode it yourself. |

Which color headlight is the safest? How would you measure the safety of bulb color? Are you trying to allow for male colorblindness? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness#Classification Without a "safest" metric, this is a "what's your favorite color?" question which is directly addressed in the FAQ: mechanics.stackexchange.com/faq#dontask |

do all quattros have shafts connecting front and rear axles Could you post a picture of what you're seeing? We would certainly expect to see a driveshaft running to the aft end of the car: fotos.autozeitung.de/1024x768/images/bildergalerie/2009/06/… |
