comment Fuel efficiency and Shifting/RPM
@Leliel that may be but now you're talking about a problem with the vehicle system, not the transmission. The math doesn't change just because the tires don't have enough grip.

comment Fuel efficiency and Shifting/RPM
@Leliel what that means is that you are driving on the street with track gearing. If the gears were compressed down into the range of street speeds, acceleration would be even higher.

comment What's the Purpose of Park on an Automatic Transmission?
@JPhi1618 I park with the transmission in park and pull the brake every time. Belts and braces: I really don't want the car moving at all until I'm ready.

comment What is a Blower?
A couple of points are glossed over above: the fuel system has to be both able and willing to provide more fuel (many NA ECUs won't have native code for how much fuel to add in a boost situation). The heat of the compressed charge is also a problem (probably requiring even more fuel to prevent detonation)

comment Steam Engines - What are these things?
This question is awfully broad. Are you including steam turbines? If not, why not?

comment When is a cold air intake system beneficial?
@IhavenoideawhatI'mdoing those are interesting questions that we would have to investigate on a car by car basis. These are measurable quantities, though. The WRX was well known for frustrating early adopters who wanted to try the intake, header, exhaust standard set of upgrades. Spend a lot of money, install and zero real impact on performance on a dyno. Proof by existence. A tune is required to make use of the extra air.
