comment Possible short in reverse lights on 2003 Nissan Frontier Pickup Truck
I believe this is one of those 'needle in a haystack' issues. It might in the end be better to run a whole new line from the light back up to either the fuse box or the computer, wherever the line terminates.

comment Car starts fine cold or warm, but has trouble inbetween
I had a problem with an old Honda that would start without a problem every time, but if it was in the 40s and damp, after about 15 minutes the car would die. There was condensation buildup in the air intake and once the car sat for about 15 minutes the intake would dry out and be fine again. Don't know if your problem is related, but 'the more you know'.

comment Proper Jack Location
also, most cars have markings along the underbody showing where the jackstand should be placed. I'm sure of the reliability of this, but my father, when a jack stand wasn't available, would use the car's tire (lying on it's side on the ground underneath the frame) as a safety precaution

comment Shocks and dampers - what can I do to prolong their life through home maintenance?
It sounds like the shocks are having some lateral pressure applied to them causing the seals to break or warp allow leakage of the fluid in the shocks. I would look at the control arms & linkages on the wheel arm to see if there is any 'give' there which would cause the arm to shift and when you hit a bump that would put pressure on the shock in a non-inline axis
