comment Why (almost) all dirt bikes have single cylinder engine?
2-strokes came first of the engine designs. They are easy to service, relatively limited in size, get outclassed by bigger 4-strokes in most ways when cost is not an issue, but provide a lot of punch for the size they do have.

comment Should i check quantity of battery liquid?
Have you taken the battery out? Does it have indicators for max and min battery fluid levels? How old is the battery?

Thanks for the help guys. Answer was a simple battery charge. Borrowed my buddies tender and got the charge up overnight. Engine struggled a little to get going, particularly due to a cold day, but a good few minutes idling with full choke brought her back to normal.

@Paulster2 that's reassuring, and good to know about the choke. Carbs get clogged from old gas and sediment? Or from being a dumbass and throwing on the choke for a warmed up engine and trying to start in the highest gear possible?

@Stewart my buddy suggested I pull the battery out and put it on a tender (bike's not parked near any outlet; haven't picked one up yet). Then, after putting on an overnight charge, give it another start. Would that be another alternative?
