Maintenance on used car with unknown history I would add power steering fluid to this. And for #2 "radiator fluid" (or engine coolant) I have read that you should not mix green and red antifreeze, although this is for my 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser - not sure how much this applies to other vehicles. |

Good template for keeping maintenance records? This is helpful. I was also able to find an excel spreadsheet template somewhere online, but it's really geared toward regular maintenance and doesn't handle adding aftermarket, etc parts into the mix. Thanks for the ideas. I'm also looking at software (windows or local based apps only) but think I'll post a separate question for that. |

Do I need to torque my spark plugs? hmm... shouldn't you read the torque specs from the engine manufacturer though? I imagine they could differ between engines. The threads in the engine are what you are really interested in protecting. |

Free online databases? agreed - I have a Toyota Land Cruiser and find ih8mud.com very helpful, but they certainly don't have information about Volvos over there. Also I think this site is intended to address some aspect of what you are asking. |
