Is the vent from the pcv valve back into the air intake really needed? My original thought was that the air coming from the crankcase would throw the air/fuel ratio off as well as introduce oil into the airflow. Hence why some people use oil catch cans between the pcv and the air intake. |

Is the vent from the pcv valve back into the air intake really needed? You have it backwards from what I meant. The pcv would go into a filtering container trapped oil and vented a "theoretically" clean air. The air intake would be closed off. I am inferring from your response that it is purely environmental reasons why the air from the crankcase is not just released. Am I right in understanding that? |

How do I select the right oil for my car? Not answer worthy, but you can also find the oil type on many cars printed on either the dipstick (or dipstick handle) or on the oil fill cap. |

1997 Geo Metro dies after driving for a short time. What next in diagnosing culprit Replaced the ignition coil and pickup coil, despite it passing a ohm resistance test. I took it for a test drive and it worked fine. Hopefully it wasn't just playing games with me. Thanks for the answer. |
