Yes, this is talking about connecting it in the car - obviously if the battery is out of the car, you can't use a remote connection...

I was just trying to decide that - In theory as long as no current is going to flow, then there shouldn't be a spark, and so there shouldn't be a risk. Most modern batteries are sealed ('maintenance free'), so, again in theory, shouldn't release any gas - but then do you trust them...
