comment What are some signs my transmission is having problems?
@Paulster2, can I check the fluid when the engine is cold? I don't want to burn myself when reaching in. If I need to check when the engine is warm, can I just drive around the block once or twice and check so the engine doesn't get TOO hot?

thx for the extra info. I HOPE I'm not leaving anything out of my description :-) but on flat ground, I don't feel any loss of power (knock on wood). I'll check when's the last time the transmission fluid was changed. I'll also let you guys know how it looks/smells when I check. I don't trust myself with taking a car apart so I'll have to let a garage do the flush the next time I'm in. The most advanced thing I've done is look down my HVAC system for items dropped thru the front vents. =)

@Paulster2, it's an Accord but no transmission work has been done on it in the past and I didn't receive any recall notices in the mail, nor have I been reminded by the dealer that there are outstanding recalls on my vehicle when I bring it in for servicing. I didn't check the fluid (didn't think to) but I don't smell any burning when I park/stop my car. I'll try to smell it later when i check the fluid. Someone told me if it smells like roasted peanuts, I'm in trouble.

comment How to get items out of the HVAC system from a 2003-2007 Honda Accord
@paulster2, i didn't realize the HVAC system is so cramped. At least in a Honda Accord, the "recycle air" button closes some sort of trap door thing. I see the spring but I don't see the coins or plastic thing. Since I've pressed this button several times before, I think my items have fallen further into the HVAV system =( If it wasn't pressed, I think I might have been able to salvage the items =( oh well. I might need to do what GettingNifty is suggesting me to do. =)

@GettingNifty, what year/make/model is your honda? i opened up my glove box and there's the cabin filter but I didn't see or have the courage to probe more for the fan motor

@Paulster2, thx for always answering my car questions =) I don't remember how long ago but I think it's been at least 6 months. Oh well, I guess I'll take my chances and open up the vents and hope the items are where I last dropped them.

comment 2005 Honda Accord cold start idle is low
Thanks for your suggestion. I have to take the freeway to/from work everyday, avg 45 min each way. I don't hit bumper to bumper traffic so I'm not driving too slow. The bad fuel could be a possibility b/c this occurred within a 2 wk period and after that, hasn't appeared again.

@Paulster2, i agree. Now I'm afraid one day I'll wake up and the car won't start or move at all. I'd much rather have it keep acting up so I can try to figure it out or have a mechanic see/hear and figure it out. Thx again for your feedback.

Just an update, not sure what happened but the problem didn't come back after i posted this. If/when it happens again, I'll update what happens. I'll also update if I can't figure it out and take it to a mechanic to see what they say.

@Paulster2, thx for your reply. No check engine light or anything. No codes showing on the dash and I unfortunately don't have one of those code checking gadgets that you plug into under the steering column. I can ask my friends if anyone has one of those and report any codes that show up back here...assuming my car doesn't get worse.
