comment Is it necessary to bleed brakes if the system is never opened?
This may warrant a separate question, but for passenger vehicles, will the latest DOT suffice, or should I look up the specific DOT for my vehicle?

@KeeganMcCarthy I'm just presenting both sides of the debate, I don't necessarily agree with that side. It's an extreme view anyway. You're right, it doesn't use energy, it only stores it. However, the theory is that if the alternator can't supply enough current, the cap will dissipate more and more, and have to be recharged, which will tax the alternator. But, you needn't worry about that for our system :-)

@R.. Yeah dead tree versions are likely a thing of the past, collector's items @ best, but they have online subscriptions now as well.

@R.. Given the nature of Wikipedia I wouldn't doubt it. Perhaps this is a +1 for the return of Encyclopedia Britannica?

lol are you sure it's not just your Honda Fit? Asking b/c Wikipedia says Response times are improved for drive by wire systems through elimination of mechanical linkages.

Awesome. Not sure if this warrants a different question, but when you refer to 'buffing', what is the proper way to buff? To me it sounds intuitive, 'Karate Kid' wax on, wax off, so is it just taking a dry cloth and literally rubbing the wax off?

+1 for skid recovery. I taught myself, on empty roads at night, sometimes in the back of large parking lots. Invaluable skill, especially when it comes to not freaking out, and like this answer says: either brake or steer. I'd also add to learn skid recovery for each vehicle you own: Each car handles differently and it's important to be one with your car.
