comment How do I correctly monitor the fuel(diesel) in the automobile?
Adding to your point, modern cars display fuel usage in the das. My VW Touareg has both instantaneous and average fuel consumption options displayed on the dash selectable from the steering wheel which are pretty damn accurate. I imagine fuel voltage from the tank would be inaccurate given how much the fuel moves around during driving. So my suggestion would be to look at average the fuel voltage over a period of time to get an estimate of tank level, then apply the fuel usage from the ECU (or where ever its calculated) over a given period of time to get a more accurate reading.

As I expected. I'm always a safety first kinda guy, especially when dealing with a moto so I'll try a little harder to track some down and if not will get some machined. Thanks for the opinions guys, I just wonder how long the bike was going without them :S ...

comment Motorcycle Front Forks: Fork tube stuck in bottom pipe - clunking sound when trying to remove
Thanks for the information. Here is the diagram of the CB400/CB250 forks (same forks, from two different manuals). i.imgur.com/TqaDsb6.png & i.imgur.com/21sye0U.png I have the spring, rebound spring and fork piston out of the fork. So only the fork tube and oil lock piece should be left in there but it still won't budge. I slide out to around about where the groove on the fork tube meets the groove on the fork slider. So I think maybe something is getting stuck on the oil seal? I've tried a bit of brute on it but I'm concerned about the metal on metal clunking sound it produces

comment Car randomly stalls (driving or stationary), then generally kicks back in or starts back up straight away
Thanks for your answer and you're absolutely correct. I went through a number of items (fuel relays through to distributor) before the problem was fixed. Ironically, I took it to an autoelectrician and a regular mechanic and neither could pinpoint the issue. Autoelectrician only wanted to replace one of the terminals, mechanics were more eager to replace parts (fuel relays etc). Eventually I ran with my gut instinct and some advice from forums and the manual and replaced the dizzy + tfi module.
