Data Security Specialist/Network Administrator

I am relativly inexpierenced, and got thrown into a network admin role. Basically, "We cant afford a admin, so you do it." It's an awesome opportunity, but I have to teach myself how to do it, and I've learned more in the last couple months then I thought possible. (AD deployment, ADFS, SSO, Cisco, DNS, linux, VPN, next is Direct Access deployment, CCNA and CISSP). So if its not possible, or is somthing that I should know. I am learning, so dont rip into me too bad. I'm trying to follow best practices, and am completly open to advice, information, and I wont get mad when I get a slap upside the head and am told "DONT DO THAT!!!"

Now when you hit the million mile mark, is where your extra 5 mpg and the higher cost of diesel catches you up, .16 vs. .13, of course only that mercedes is going to hit that mark... Just saying, if your concerned about MPG, and $$ diesel mercedes is the way to go. Which is very surprising.

and btw Prius guys... My daily driver is a 1987 diesel mercedes with about half a million miles on it now. I paid $1000 for it a few years ago. It gets close to 40 MPG. All I've ever had to do to it was replace a couple fuses. Conservativly, my cost per mile is .13 Cents if I only expect 300k on the car(my last did a million) Yours is .26 cents at 300k(unless you start throwing in battery packs).

On 4 wheels you can get away with it, but having a compromised tire on two wheels is a needless risk. (dont be a statistic)

comment Why no alternate (hand-cranked, spring-loaded) starter for a car?
A hand crank on a modern car wouldnt/couldnt work. On old cars like a model T it was feasable, but with modern compression ratios you couldnt turn it by hand anywhere near the speed required, and you also wouldnt be able to generate enough of a spark to start the engine. (If you've ever worked on an engine and had to rotate it to TDC for timing, you would know what I mean)

This is actually really common in vehicles with aftermarket sound systems(or diesels). It's an isolated battery that on a relay that only switches on when a certain ammount of amperage(starting amps) is being pulled.

true, but just like mikes said, but they will pay it out and will be willing to work with you. You know you can put a pretty trick bumper and tow package on for less then $1000, so you got the estimate, tell the insurance company you will settle for less in order to avoid the salvage title. And tell them you will fix it yourself so they just cut you a check. They will do anything to pay you less, so if you give them the option they will take it.

Thats pretty much what I've done so far, short of replacing the fuses which I will do next.

Another easier thing you can check, is when it wont start, open the gas cap, if there is a woosh of incoming air and then the car starts, your tank is not venting and is probably a bad cap. ($10)
