comment Step-by-step guide to changing oil of a 2004 Nissan Xterra
Changing the oil is very similar from car to car. You just need to get underneath it, remove any covers on the sump, remove the sump nut, drain the oil out, replace sump nut and refill the oil through the filler in the engine bay. Then find the filter and remove and replace that. Also remember to coat the new filter in new oil.
comment How do you remove or even get to the car battery on a 2012 Honda Odyssey?
I'm pretty sure that, unless there's something special about Honda Odysseys, it doesn't require both battery terminals actually. When I say I'm "pretty sure" I mean I have done this multiple times with my BMW, where the battery is in the boot.
comment How to diagnose ABS problem (ABS light on) on a 1992 Volvo 940 turbo diesel estate?
The light means there is a fault with the ABS system somewhere. It's worth checking the fuses and relays if people have been messing around with the electrical system (ie. the new battery) beyond that, it's going to be a case of checking the individual wheel sensors.
comment FWD vs RWD winter time
What country are you going to be driving this car in? I'm from the UK and my answer would be fairly different to the ones already posted, but, if you're not going to be keeping the car in the UK then it would be fairly useless information. Also, is the assumption that the engine would be in the front of the car, or are you considering mid-engined or even rear-engined cars?
comment How important is time-based servicing vs. distance-based servicing?
This answer is very good. Just to expand on a point, I would check your engine oil level and tyre pressures once a week. As mentioned in the answer, if you're not using the car frequently then having sufficient oil and oil pressure is more important and it's always a good idea to have a quick look at the tyres if the car has been standing for a while.
