What was the original reason that you took the car to the mechanic?

comment 95 silerado 2500 diesel died and cranks but won't turn over
There's actually a huge Army/Marine/Air Force manual here for the 6.2-6.5 liter diesels from 1990 to 1998. There are usually ports on the fuel rail for GM products that let will let you see if fuel pressure is on the line without having to take them off, but I'm not seeing any in this manual. The fuel line diagrams are under page 36 (21-5 h) and page 225 (21-5 u).

comment Peugeot 206 LX (2002), I have installed a cd player which works but it doesn't remember volume/clock settings
Yeah. It's losing power somewhere, more than likely the battery cables.

Trying to think of other things it could be. That's all I can think of right now. The radio is somehow losing power if it's resetting.

The battery cables that are connected to the battery. They would be under the hood. If one of the cables are loose, you should be able to move it with your hand.

Before you start swapping wires in your wiring harness, have you tried checking to make sure the battery cables on your car are tight? The most common reason for radios resetting is a cable being loose and losing connection when the car is turned off.

comment Transmission fluid and filter change: Miles or time? Or both?
I'm not sure about the filter in those, but I will tell you that we have a drag car with a powerglide that sits up when it's not being used, and the filter on it is hardly ever changed. We changed the transmission fluid in it a few weeks ago for the first time in a year. The filter was fine, so it still hasn't been replaced in almost 4 years.

Just be sure to post whatever solution you find here and select it as the answer. I'd like to know how you do it myself.

Also, I say that I'll need a specific model because I can't find a manual directly from GM that mentions how often you should change it. The owner's manual should say, which is why I was asking for a specific model. Just because the transmission seems the same for all models, it could be different as far as pan size and all. I know this transmission was used in quite a few models, other than 94-96 B-Body cars.

The only problem with that is that it will probably back up through the dipstick before you can get it to go into the pan. If you have something to pressurize it as you're putting it in, you might be able to get it done that way. The cooler output is supplied fluid by the pump inside, so there's no way you're going to be able to take it off and it just run out.

comment Wipers not working on timer
If it's a blown fuse, it would more than likely be in the fuse panel inside of your car. The relay panel is usually found under the hood of the car, next to the computer. The way the relay works and is wired depends on the car. You can always try replacing it if there is one, but it's not guaranteed to work. If the relay isn't getting power, then you've got a short somewhere. Again, the wiring depends upon the car. I tried to get the Polo mechanic manual for you from here, but you apparently have to enter into a contract with Volkswagen to get the manuals.

If you're lucky, you may be able to find a garage that will run the scanner on it for you. I know that we don't charge for running tests if we can't fix the problem.

That works, too. It wouldn't be the first or last time someone has done it. :P

It could be working for reading the temperature and displaying it, but not working when it comes to turning the fans on. If that's the case, I would say it's probably something with the PCM. If you're lucky, you might can find a junked car with a used PCM that still works, rather than having to buy a new one. They can be pretty expensive.
