comment Motorcycle gear changes alternate between stiff and normal
@jacek No. After replacing and fiddling around with the clutch cable tension with no changes I've sort of just accepted it :/

comment Car AC is not working
Paulster is right. I'd check the fuses first and see if they got wet or check that the belt driving the AC unit is slipping. Other than that, we need more information.

comment How do I make my 2nd generation Toyota Hi-Ace start more easily?
Like Paulster, not an answer but maybe try cleaning the throttle body as well. Its an easy and simple job.

comment Engine sputtering, not accelerating. Left for 20 mins and is now fine?
Sounds right. I've already replaced the in-tank pump, so it could be the main, which is 22 years old now. Thanks!

comment Paint peeling around body filled area 6 months on
@StevenT.Snyder I used fine grade body filler. I sanded down the area removing all rough edges. I then washed the area and applied and sanded down the filler about 6 times. I then applied primer and the paint in several layers.

comment BMW e36 wont maintain idle
@Peter thanks peter. It has the 1.8 Petrol with injection. Not sure about VVT but I doubt it. Was last serviced 4 months ago and is a daily driver. We replaced the fuel so its not a fuel quality issue.

@Paulster2 - so the problem is with the paint not stretching enough rather then the filler stretching too much?

Yep you're right: Idle Air Control Valve

comment Engine temperature increases when idling though thermo fan is working
@Paulster2 sorry for the late reply, yes the fan shroud is in place. There is a 8mm or so gap running along the top where the shroud meets the top of the radiator but it looks like its meant to be there.

@Zaid ah thanks, yes that is what I meant. I also put a new video up the top that demonstrates the problem better.

Wow lots of good info! Thanks heaps for this! With the plunger sticking, is this basically causing the engine to flood?

comment Car stalls when braking (VW Mk1 Golf)
Thanks heaps for these suggestions. Sadly, there no ports for an OBD device - it basically uses the same engine as a mark 1. This might be a dumb question but do you know where I could find the IAC valve? I have workshop manuals but they actually make no mention of it.

comment Car stalls when braking (VW Mk1 Golf)
@Zaid sorry should have mentioned that earlier - its manual. Yeah the stalling still happens if the clutch is depressed and/or the car is in neutral.

comment Why don't motorbikes have chain covers?
I would also add that the bikes above are marketed in countries where they are used as family vehicles. Kids legs and wives dresses are often hanging over the side near the chain, so its a real safety thing.

comment Wobble in steering (not tyre)?
Yes, I heard a cracking/popping noise going around corners. I assumed it was the CV joins. Yes it has the 4WS

comment Motorcycle gear changes alternate between stiff and normal
@theUg yeah break in was fine - I followed the manual and kept revs under 4K for the first 1500klm. I did an oil and filter change a few weeks back to synthetic but the issues is the same.
