Totally agree and yes thank you for adding the in part about risk, which I left out. Getting into a repair that is over your head and having a car that can't run because all the parts are laying over the floor is a bad situation that you want to avoid!

Are you getting a CEL (check engine light) coming on? You can get a free check for the code(s) at most auto parts stores.

What customer service people fail to realize is that customers pay for their salaries. If no one comes to their shop they go out of business! Your car is important because it's your transportation and they should treat it in that regard. You are right about them needing to keep their opinions about your car to themselves.

Does it do this when you turn both left and right or just one direction? Is it consistent?

If you don't mind replacing the thermostat, that might be a good first try, depending on the mileage and age of the current one. If I suspect a faulty thermostat I will change it if it's old because that is something that seems to go out when you don't want it to. If you are careful you can feel the temp on the two coolant hoses while the car is idling. That is how I can tell if when the thermostat opens up. I would definitely check the radiator fans as a possibility too.

comment My 94 Toyota 4runner doesn't seem to gain speed even while I'm flooring the gas pedal…whats the issue and how can I fix it?
You need to give more details on the symptoms here, otherwise we could guess dozens of things. How was it running before you did the change?
