Why bikes with gears are preferred when there is gearless(or automatic gear) technology? @Ashwin, Ever ridden a bicycle with gears? How about a bicycle without gears? The bike with gears allows you to go both up steeper hills than you could without gears, and down hills faster than you could without gears. You can't turn the pedals infinitely fast, and you can't push them infinitely hard. The gears help you get the most out of the bicycle while working within your physical limitations. In this case, "you" are just like the motorcycle engine. It has a limited torque output and a limited maximum RPM. The gears expand the range of speeds that the motorcycle can operate in. |

Do all engines typically support the installation of a crankshaft position sensor Do you just want a tachometer (RPM gauge), or are you planning something more involved? If you just want a gauge, have you looked into gauges that work inductively off a spark plug wire? I've seen digital gauges like these on power equipment, and I imagine you could fit them to any engine with a traditional high voltage spark plug wire (i.e. anything but coil-on-plug configurations). |

Vw Golf-5 Cant turn the ignition, brake pedal stiff and key broken The brake pedal being rock hard is not abnormal if you've applied and released the brakes a few times without the car running. You will have used up all the leftover vacuum, and the brake booster will no longer be helping you apply the brakes. |

Manual transmission at stop: 1st with clutch in, or neutral with clutch out? -OR- Throwout Bearing wear the Institute of Advanced Motorists? What a fantastic name! Parking brake advocates are clearly not interested in making a quick getaway. I agree with @BobCross re: potentially confusing on-off of the headlights and tail lights when the parking brake is used. Plus, I like the added visibility from the rear of having the tail lights/brake lights on. Last in line in stopped traffic is a vulnerable spot. |

09 Camry engine rumbles If you move all these clarifications to your original question, it may help get more responses. |

09 Camry engine rumbles which engine in your Camry? Rough idle is not uncommon in the 4-cylinder cars, but idle speed dropping to 3-400 RPMs sounds pretty severe to me--more than a simple rough idle. |

09 Camry engine rumbles I don't think that this is simply a case of the idle speed being "set wrong," (even if it were, you'd have to tinker with it by computer) I think there's a deeper problem here, which is why i asked about the check engine light. The car runs perfectly when you're moving? Not even a hint of hesitation or stumbling when your foot is on the gas? |

09 Camry engine rumbles OK. So the car idles rough and low. On such a new car, the idle speed should be controlled by the computer, so something is not right here. No check engine light? |

09 Camry engine rumbles To clarify, sitting still while in drive it idles at normal speed, and smoothly, but in neutral the revs drop? |
