comment Safest method to raise a vehicle, with multiple safety nets?
smart advice, this is very helpful. I am curious about the wood planks. What type of wood is this? Why is it safer than "engineered" ramps? You just make it yourself or is this a product?

thanks, I forgot about leaving it in gear, since it is stick. It is a '65 c-10, how do I ensure solid support points?

comment Two hoses that run from the carburetor - Is the upper hose cut and zip tied? Is that's the one that brings fuel to the carburetor?
@hannah: please give more detailed information about all the mechanical issues in question that you know. If you think he is shady and taking advantage of you, get your scooter out of there and research a better mechanic.

@beroe: first make sure these are NOT sensors that can only be cleared by the dealership. Lexus does this on some vehicles.

Thanks for the info, here is how I see it now with more insight. if a letter is in question (not sure they would write out liability) I'm thinking it's better to just ask to have it done right...if I find it not acceptable later, it may also be too late and screw up the engine...

comment Oil pan threads stripped?
R..: Thanks so much. I talked with them and told them exactly that and that they need to replace it at their expense. He says to come in so they can asses it. said he wants to see if he can drill out and put in new threads or if not will replace the pan. but yes, it has always been this dealership so it was obviously them. He started saying it is aluminum so they can wear and tear but I do not think that is the case as people have them for much longer in good condition. Sounds like he realizes this....

thanks for the info, the part about the metal shavings from drilling is really helpful to know, that would not be wort messing the engine up. Any idea how accessible it is to remove on this vehicle?
