comment Automatic transmission: Is shifting to neutral while approaching stops bad?
your first two points are perfectly valid, but why do you say that "really really bad things may happen" if you shift into drive while moving?

comment Strong vibrations when idling even after replacing engine mounts (automatic transmission)
@burn I have not. I have been super busy with a thesis and other broken things on the car. My current three candidates are PCV valve, injectors and intake manifold, in that order.

comment High pitch whistle at a very particular throttle level

comment oil sludge in my 1998 Honda Civic LX radiator
Oil in the coolant is often indicative of a blown head gasket, but there are many other reasons why it would happen. Oil in the coolant alone doesn't necessarily mean you need to replace/rebuild the engine. What other symptoms do you encounter and what other tests has the mechanic done on the car? (e.g. compression test)
