Pull the plugs and see what kind of shape they are in.

You could also put some dielectric grease on the exposed metal

I disagree with @kasey. An EGR valve stuck open causes a massive vacuum leak and can cause an engine to stall. That and the camshaft position sensor are your most likely culprits.

comment Where is the “Black Box” in a vehicle and what does it record?
@JPhi1618 Back in the day, it was several seconds before (guess 5-10) deployment, during deployment, and after deployment for a bit. The exact numbers are probably higher now and I'm sure that every make/model is different. I also know it would do this for multiple impacts. There are companies that specialize in retrieving this data for lawsuits.

comment High Beam Indicator Problem
Though your solution may answer the OP's question, the real problem that needs to be solved is why is there 6 volts on a wire that shouldn't be there. We need more info to handle that.

Not directly related, but make sure your check engine light still works. Most cars will light all of the indicator lights as a test with the key-on, engine-off. If the bulb is burned out, you may have a code stored and not know it.

Before opening up the dash, see if the blower motor is easy to access (it usually is, but I don't know about your VW). Removing it may give you the needed reach. You can also try using a large shop vacuum at the vents to help.
