If you've got a bleeder valve, it's probably on the thermostat housing.

What I really want to know is how the filter screen holds up versus the fluid over time. I would suspect the fluid breaks down over time due to moisture contamination and other factors, but what about the screen? Will just sitting in aging fluid clog it up?

If nothing else, pumping a few quarts out before dropping the pan will probably cut down on the mess.
