Sounds you have a small leak. A fluid collects somewhere and then makes itself to the exhaust manifold or headers and because that's hot, it burns/evaporates causing the smoke you are seeing
Does it smell like burnt plastic? If yes, then its probably engine oil. I'm not sure if antifreeze would produce a distinct burnt smell as its mostly water/alcohol. ...

Sounds like one of two scenarios depending on the design. -58 is the lower limit and happens whenever the sensor has no connection, or a direct connection.
The first step is to unplug the sensor and look at the temp if it goes to -58 then you have a loose or open connection somewhere between the sensor and the computer. If when you unplug the sensor it ...

The reason the oil light is coming on is because the oil pressure in the engine does fall low enough for the oil pressure switch to trigger. After all, it's a pressure warning light and not an oil level warning light. It's not unknown for these switches to go bad but given that it's accompanied by engine noise, I would very much work on the assumption that ...

Here's some notes before we get started to help you see the differences in option packages.
Audi A5
The Base does not come standard with iPod or Bluetooth connectivity, but those are easy enough to add as standalone options. The absence of a USB port is much more troubling (to me at least). Instead of spending more money on inter-grading a USB port into ...

I wouldn't rule out a bad MAF so quickly - there was a generation of VW and AUDI MAFs that slowly went south without any indication from the ECU that they were doing so and IIRC the ECU managed to compensate for the dying MAF for a while.
Also, if the ECU thinks you might be boosting at 15psi and using a conventional gauge suggests you're boost 7psi, you ...

If the engine is accelerating and the transmission is in gear, then the car should accelerate. If not, then you have a transmission problem. I'm not sure about Audi's, but what you describe sounds sort of like your torque converter (if you have one) is slipping under high load. If it is an "automatic manual" (or semi-automatic, depending on your preferred ...

A thermostat failing after that sort of mileage isn't that unusual. On an older car, I'd say do it yourself - new 'stats are dirt cheap and easy to test and replace. However, a newer car like that may have more complicated electronics connected to it that prevent you from doing that - Hopefully some of our modern car experts can help there?

If this is the 2.8L engine, I'd be willing to bet that it's lifters. I have a '97 A4 2.8 quattro and around 140K miles one morning when I went to start it I heard a rattling. I immediately took it over to our mechanic, less than a mile away. It was not accompanied by an oil pressure light that I recall, but I really didn't drive it very long, either...

Possible low oil pressure. Could be due to, or currently in the process of causing damage to the main bearings.
I had a similar situation with my Toyota. Apparently the oil pressure light comes on only at VERY low oil pressure. The car was down around that value at idle, and at speed it was up just barely above it (enough to keep the light off, but was ...
