My Vaxhall Corsa 52 plate just recently started with high revs, its ok in first and second gear, but when I change from third to fourth and fourth to fifth it revs high, but my rpm dial doesnt go erratic.

Also while driving on the motoways I start to get a whistling noise, it seems to be comimg from the right hand side near front, but not sure what this is, can anyone help me as I dont know much about cars.

It could be your clutch plates are worn out and not gripping straight away. Do you notice high revs but limited movement when you accelerate quickly or perform a hill start? – MeltingDog Sep 3 '12 at 11:35
