Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for mechanics and DIY enthusiast owners of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a 2009 Malibu and recently had a sensor replaced in it (2 days ago). The mechanic reset the car and I drove it home. It sat for a day before I had to start the car again. When I tried to start it, the Theft Deterrent light came on and stayed on... I kept trying to start the car, doing all I could think to do, and my stepdad did the same. Nothing helped. At first, the ignition made a clicking sound when turning over. Now, it won't do anything at all. It's like the battery was locked up or something. Can you please tell me what's wrong and how I can fix it? I really don't want to have to pay hundreds of dollars to have the car fixed...

Describe the "clicking" sound ... Was it a bunch of clicking noises, or just one "thunk"? What sensor was replaced? Do the lights come on (dome, dash when key turned on, etc)? What else is out of the ordinary about the car? –  Paulster2 Jul 4 at 13:53
